NJSIAA Group IV Sectional Championship East Brunswick 3, Hillsborough 2 Head coach Karyn Grant won her second sectional title in 14 years by defeating Hillsborough. The match came down to Luiza Kiyamova who knew that championship was on her shoulders going into her match. In the third set, Luiza got out to a 3-1 lead and managed to hold off Paige Aiello for the victory. With this victory, Luiza Kiyamova's personal record was 10-1 for the season. East Brunswick's doubles team has been the teams strength this year, undefeated for the season. Last year Marlboro defeated East Brunswick 3-2 in the championship. East Brunswick High School Graduation The East Brunswick High School graduation at the Sovereign Bank Arena was a very memorable affair. The farewell address by Ross Cohen, President, Class of 2005 was entertaining as were the remarks of Angela Ying, class Valedictorian. The Faculty Address delivered by Jack Cibrian was hilarious. The Principal, Robert Murphy, listed off the impressive accomplishments of the Class of 2005, his references to the Football State Sectional Championship and the victory in the national 'We the People' competition were greeted with enthusiastic applause. The presentation of the class by Dr. Jo Ann Magistro, Superintendent of Schools and the Acceptance of the class by Mr. Michael K. Baker, President, Board of Education concluded the presentations. East Brunswick High School 43rd Annual Athletic Awards Banquet The annual sports award banquet was a great success. The banquet committee of Linda Ronchi, Frank Noppenberger and Don Wehrenberg deserve a big round of applause. East Brunswick is very proud of its fine student athletes. The 2004/2005 school year was once again very successful with an overall record of 193-70-2 or 73%. East Brunswick had conference championships in Girls Soccer, Boys Volleyball, Boys Bowling, Boys Tennis, Boys Golf and Baseball, in addition, East Brunswick won the division in Girls Soccer, Girls Tennis, Boys Volleyball, Boys Tennis, Boys Golf and Baseball, finally, East Brunswick won state sectional titles in Football and Bowling. East Brunswick High School Qualifies Two U.S. Physics Team Semifinalists East Brunswick High School teacher Anthony Charanis had two students, David B. Ruffner and Angela Y Ying that made it to the semifinalist level. These students place in the top 200 nationally on a physics exam given by the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT). A second test, student transcripts, and letters of recommendation are used as the basis for selection of the 24 members of the U.S. Physics Team. This team competes internationally and placed 6th in 2004. |

East Brunswick High School Wins New Jersey Regional Science Bowl The East Brunswick High School team coached by Dr. Paul Kimmel place first in the New Jersey Regional Science Bowl. Congratulations to team members Alex Zozula, Eric Chang, Bill Zhang, Harrison Hsu and Aditya Panda. The East Brunswick team will get an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Fifteenth Annual National Science Bowl from April 28th to May 2, 2005. |
