East Brunswick Volleyball

METUCHEN — It didn’t come easy, but the East Brunswick High School boys volleyball team came up huge in the spots they needed most to defeat St. Joseph 2-1 on Wednesday. After losing the first game 25-12, the Bears bounced back, winning two straight games to seal the victory.“We’ve been playing like that the last couple games,” said Bears’ coach Greg Rutz. “We’ve been real flat and almost insecure and we’ve lost.”The Bears were able to come out strong in game two, as both teams went back and forth. Ultimately, the game went in the Bears’ favor with a slim 26-24 victory.“I legitimately didn’t say anything inspirational at all to them going into game two,” said Rutz. “They did it, and that’s how we can play. We’re a much better squad, playing better defense and making better choices and you just have to hope that happens every game.”
