Mike Manning – Lacrosse MVP

Mike Manning had never traveled further west than western Pennsylvania until a month ago – that’s when a lacrosse tournament took him on an adventure of a lifetime to the other side of the world.Manning, a 2011 East Brunswick High School graduate who just finished his junior season playing lacrosse at Rosemont College, a Division III school located right outside of Philadelphia, traveled to Melbourne, Australia, with three of his college teammates to represent a USA Athletes International team in a five-day tournament against three Australian international teams. After losing the first two games of the tournament, team USA won its next two games and found itself in the championship game of the Down Under Cup.With the game tied and the time winding down, Manning got hold of the ball and flicked in the game-winning goal with 10 seconds left to lift Team USA to a 9-8 victory, as Manning was named MVP of the tournament.
