East Brunswick High School finished third in a national competition today testing students’ knowledge of the U.S. Constitution.

A class of students from the high school, who won the right to represent New Jersey, topped all but two of the 52 teams in the contest entitled “We the People, The Citizen and The Constitution,” held annually in Washington D.C

Jason Foster tallied 11 kills and four digs and Kris Bebenov added nine kills and two digs, but West Windsor-Plainsboro North came up short in two sets at East Brunswick. Derek Yan chipped in five digs for WW-PN. Alexander Portera had six kills and two blocks, while Max Levine went down for 31 digs for East Brunswick, ranked 10th in the state.

Senior centerfielder Shannon Costello was a one-person wrecking crew as she hit a three-run homer in the fourth and a grand slam in the fifth to lead No. 6 East Brunswick, which did all of its scoring in the fourth and fifth innings in Monmouth Junction. Deb DeWitt went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI for East Brunswick (11-1), while Dallas Ostin, Alex Krantz and Lauren Pensavalle each had two hits.

East Brunswick Community Garden Picture
I am so excited about starting our third season at the East Brunswick Community Gardens. Lots of people were there yesterday starting to prepare their soil and there were some people that already have thriving stands of lettuce and other early crops. The community garden was featured in an article that came out yesterday in the May Edition of Gardener News. This is the largest circulation gardening newspaper in NJ.
