East Brunswick fought a tough match against a surging Edison team and came up short in a soggy downpour for a 'home' game at Edison. The Bears had an opportunity to take the lead at the end of the first half, but missed a field goal so the score at the half was 0-0. Edison drove the ball down the field at the start of the second half, but East Brunswick stopped them and took over on downs. The game then settled into a punting contest and both teams had trouble handling the catches. This was one of those games that was very likely to be settled by a fumble with the ball being so wet. As it turned out, Edison recovered their own fumble, but two plays later threw an interception which Dustin Schuld returned down to the 22. A few plays later, Doug Fisher nearly scored on a run to the left. On the following play Mike Kelleman scored to put the Bears up by six. The extra point was low, but the Bears seemed in control. Unfortunately for East Brunswick, the ensuing kickoff was returned 55 years to give Edison a short field to work the final 5 minutes. East Brunswick made a good goal line stand, but on fourth and goal from the 1, Edison called a time out and came back with a spread formation which spread out the East Brunswick defense enough to allow Erik Janz to run another quarter back sneak and this time he had just enough. The extra point kick also had 'just enough' - hitting the crossbar and bouncing over. East Brunswick's Bobby Tocco had 3 catches for 41 yards and Ryan Ross had one for 28 yards. East Brunswick is now 3-4 for the season.
