October 25, 2006 - State Tournament of Champions - Finals: Millburn 3 1/2, East Brunswick 1 1/2

East Brunswick did better than any East Brunswick team has ever done before and came so close to having a perfect undefeated season, but Millburn was just a little too tough for East Brunswick. We are all so proud of this incredible team, Congratulations to all the player and to coach Karyn Grant!

October 23, 2006 - State Tournament of Champions - Semifinals: East Brunswick 4, Immaculate Heart Academy 1

Undefeated East Brunswick is now one win away from being the best team in the state. They will face Millburn today (Oct 25) at 2PM at Inman.

October 19, 2006 - Group IV Finals: East Brunswick 4, J.P. Stevens 1

Undefeated East Brunswick proved they are the best in the state by winning the Group IV State Championship. They defeated Greater Middlesex Conference rival J.P. Stevens 4-1 in the final, after defeating Cherry Hill East 4-1 in the semi-finals.

East Brunswick is now 16-0 for the season.

October 13, 2006 - East Brunswick 3, Hillsborough 2

East Brunswick defeated Hillsborough to win the State Sectional Title. The Bears fell into a 0-2 hole when freshman Stef Balasa lost her first match of the season to Emily Mannix, 6-1, 6-2 and Luiza Kiyamova-Kristina Moehle lost to Kaitlyn Katzelnick and Mae Ling Strang. But Sonia Tsay won 6-3, 6-3 to keep the Bears hopes alive. In second doubles, East Brunswick's Hillary Rosen and Mallory Highstein defeated Alary Price and Justine Turnbull, 6-4, 6-3. Finally, the decisive victory came from senior Anna Tarasova who had to overcome sickness to win 6-2, 7-5. This is the second year in a row that East Brunswick has won the Central Jersey Group IV State Sectional victory.

East Brunswick is now 15-0 for the season.

For the third straight year, the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament looked just like a dual meet between East Brunswick and J.P. Stevens, only this year there was a big difference - the Bears won all the matches!
