October 6, 2006: J.P. Stevens 20, East Brunswick 19
East Brunswick lost a hard fought battle with J.P. Stevens which featured two field goals by Eric McCutcheon of J.P. Stevens on a windy and chilly night in East Brunswick. The first field goal gave J.P. Stevens a first quarter lead. Both sides struggled until near the end of the first half. The Bears then scored on an 18 yard pass from Randall Nixon to Sergio Garcia with just 53 seconds left in the half. East Brunswick missed the kick, so it looked like East Brunswick would go into half up 6-3, but J.P. Stevens fumbled and after a long run by Randall Nixon down to the 3, Erik Eckhardt caught the touchdown pass with 5 seconds left in the half. The Bears made the kick to take a 13-3 lead into halftime. The second half did not start out well for East Brunswick. J.P. Stevens drove down for a touchdown and then not long later they returned an East Brunswick punt 52 yards for a touchdown. On the following kickoff however, Sergio Garcia turned the momentum around with a 78 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Unfortunately East Brunswick again missed the extra point settling for a two point lead. J.P. Stevens then took the lead on a 33 yard field goal with 5:41 left in the game. East Brunswick got the ball two more times, but was unable to score. East Brunswick is now 2-2 for the season.
