May 22, 2006 - Greater Middlesex Conference Finals - South Brunswick 9, East Brunswick 5
East Brunswick boys lacrosse team should be so proud of having made it to the finals of the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament, but South Brunswick proved they were the champions this year, with a demonstration of some very fine lacrosse. Less than 3 minutes into the game, South Brunswick's Zach Zenda scored the first of his 3 goals. Just over a minute later, South Brunswick got another goal, this time from Chris Laurita who would also score three goals in the game. Andrew Mariani then put the Bears on the board with his first of two goals. South Brunswick then scored two more goals in the last minute and a half of the first period. Bryan Pasichow then scored to bring East Brunswick to within 2, but two more South Brunswick scores, including a goal with 3 seconds left in the half, made for a somber half time for the Bears. South Brunswick pushed the score to 8-2, before East Brunswick was able to score 3 of the last four goals to make the final score 9-5. Scoring for East Brunswick were: Mike Corona(2), Andrew Mariani(2) and Bryan Pasichow. Nick Fusco had two assists for East Brunswick. Bears goalies Ray Lanzi (9 saves) and Luke Zabel (13 saves) played very well, despite giving up 9 goals. East Brunswick played tough the whole game and created some turnovers with jarring hits, including a very memorable one by Bobby Tocco. East Brunswick is now 11-7 for the season.
