East Brunswick got the new year off on the right foot. The game started off slowly with both sides staying close, but the Bears pulled out to a 32-25 lead at the half. Tom Gadziala busted the game wide open with two three pointers to put the Bears up by 44-35. Steve Netti came back into the game after taking a breather and immediately powered to the hoop for several layups, resulting in a 50-37 margin. On defense, East Brunswick was getting nearly all of the rebounds and were not giving the Vikings any easy shots. Even with the game clearly in hand, John Byrne and Jimmy McCloskey kept up the pressure, adding to the lead. Scoring for East Brunswick were: Tom Gadziala (16 pts), Jimmy McCloskey (5 pts), John Byrne (16 pts), Steve Netti (10 pts), Mike Wagenblast (13 pts), and John McLaughlin (5 pts). East Brunswick is now 5-2 for the season.
