November 7, 2005 - Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament Champions - East Brunswick defeats South Brunswick 25-10, 25-22
East Brunswick got sweet revenge against South Brunswick, the team that eliminated them from the GMCT Semifinal round last year. The Bears regained the conference title that they have held 3 out of the last 4 years. The first game was tied at 9-9 when East Brunswick scored 16 of the last 17 points for the victory. The last 10 with Marissa Nadeau serving. In the second game, the Bears got off to a 14-7 lead, but Janelle Payne of South Brunswick scored six straight service points to pull the Vikings to within 1. Marissa was on serve next for East Brunswick and scored six points to put East Brunswick ahead 20-14. Anna Chesnakova gave South Brunswick fits all game. South Brunswick tried changing their defense to stop her, but it was not enough. Sophomore Michelle Sempkowski had 12 digs, four kills and two aces for East Brunswick, and libero Jennifer Strapko had 12 digs for the Bears. East Brunswick will play at Southern Regional at 5PM Tuesday November 8th in the NJSIAA Tournament Quarter Finals. East Brunswick is now 24-1 for the season.
