New mayor takes helm in East Brunswick
Kevin McEvoy’s appointment to mayor leaves vacancy on the township school board
EAST BRUNSWICK – The appointment of Kevin McEvoy as mayor Monday night has left a vacancy on the township school board.
McEvoy resigned from the school board Monday morning, Superintendent of Schools Victor Valeski said.
“We’ll miss him,” Valeski said. “He’s walked that line of making sure as a constituent, as a public servant, that he met the needs of both the schools and the community and found a balance.”
McEvoy was sworn in as mayor by Assemblywoman Nancy Pinkin, D-18th District.
He replaces David Stahl, who was sworn in as a municipal judge last month. Stahl was appointed to serve a three-year term in Woodbridge through Dec. 31, 2018.
