The name "Sayaka” means clear and brilliant in Japanese.East Brunswick junior golfer Sayaka Carpenter has proven over the last two springs that she clearly possesses the talent who could be headed for brilliant things."I think she has the chance to be a scholarship player,” said coach Mark Motusesky, in his eighth season.Carpenter has won two straight Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament titles and captured the Central Jersey Girls League Tournament last season.She will once again be the player to beat in Middlesex County and is looking to draw closer to the state’s elite players. She was 24th in the NJSIAA girls Tournament of Champions last year. Two years ago, she was the first freshman to win the county tournament – in its sixth year at the time, was the second-best in her class at the TOC and finished 16th overall."The sky is the limit for her," said Motusesky. "If she builds up her confidence and improves her short game, she has the ability to one of the best golfers in New Jersey.”
