EAST BRUNSWICK — Carl Thomore played under a microscope all season long with at least 15 professional scouts attending every one of his East Brunswick High School baseball games.

The senior outfielder, regarded as one of the nation’s top scholastic prospects, said handling that kind of pressure prepared him for the stress of waiting to be selected during Major League Baseball’s 2011 First-Year Player Draft.

Thomore was chosen early in the second round Tuesday afternoon by the Colorado Rockies with the 77th overall pick upon the initial recommendation of Northeast Scouting Supervisor Mike Garlatti, a former Highland Park star and Rutgers University assistant coach who Thomore credits with his development as a five-tool player.
